June is the peak, and summer carries the season
There were 596 completed mosquito treatment visits in the six ZIP codes over the year. June was the busiest month, with 96 visits and 16.1% of the year. August (15.8%) and July (14.8%) were close behind, and September still held 13.1%.
Together, June through September accounted for 356 of the 596 visits, or 59.7%. That is the window when a Katy backyard is hardest to enjoy after dusk.

The season starts in March
November through February is quiet but not empty: those four months together held 41 visits, 6.9% of the year. Activity jumped in March to 54 visits, 9.1% of the year, and stayed at that level through April and May before the June surge.
In other words, the first warm weeks of March are when mosquitoes come back on the west side. Waiting until the June peak to deal with standing water or start yard treatments means starting late.
The west side's summer is more concentrated than the rest of Houston
We ran the same count on 4,714 completed mosquito visits across the rest of the Houston area over the same 12 months. The calendars are close, with one difference: the west side packs more of its season into summer.
June through September held 59.7% of mosquito visits in the west Houston ZIPs, against 54.4% in the rest of the area. March through May held 25.7% on the west side and 29.6% elsewhere. August stands out most: 15.8% of the west side's year, against 13.3% for the rest of Houston.
Summer brings bugs back between treatments
Mosquitoes are not the only summer pressure. For homes on regular general pest service in the same six ZIP codes, we counted callbacks: return visits between scheduled treatments because insects showed up again.
From June through August, there were 11.3 callbacks for every 100 routine pest visits (73 against 644). From November through March, the rate was 3.4 per 100 (39 against 1,153). In the rest of the Houston area, the summer rate was lower, at 7.0 per 100 (231 against 3,317), so the west side saw more bugs return between visits in hot weather.
New mosquito customers arrive in June
Across the whole Houston area, we counted homes that started mosquito service in 2026, meaning their first completed mosquito visit since January 2025 fell in that month. Of 327 new starts from January through September 2026, 102 came in June, or 31%, and March through June together brought in 72%.
Most people look for help when the season is already at its worst. The numbers above suggest that March or April is the better time to start.
Mosquito work by ZIP code
Within the six ZIP codes, the share of all completed service visits that were mosquito treatments was highest in 77493, at 17.2% (114 of 664). It was 15.4% in 77450 (148 of 959), 15.2% in 77494 (213 of 1,401) and 14.1% in 77095 (86 of 609). In 77449 and 77084 there were fewer than 30 mosquito visits in the year, so those ZIPs are not broken out.
How we counted
The sample is 4,496 completed service visits at 1,076 homes and businesses in ZIP codes 77449, 77450, 77493, 77494, 77084 and 77095 from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026, compared with 24,714 completed visits across the rest of the Houston area in the same period. Cancelled and rescheduled appointments were left out, and each visit was placed by the ZIP code on its service address.
Visits were grouped by the service performed: mosquito treatments, routine general pest service, and callback visits between scheduled pest treatments. A month's share is that month's visits divided by the year's total for the same service. Visit counts measure when treatments happened, which follows when homeowners want relief, so they describe the season as people live it rather than a trap count. We do not publish a figure for any city, ZIP code or group of months with fewer than 30 visits behind it, which is why November through February appear as one row.
